Father Michael Guinan performed the marriage rites in St. Rita’s Catholic Church on June 30 uniting Cathryn Mary Calder and Richard Stanley Bowers. The bride is the daught- er of Mr. and Mrs. David R. Calder of Castlegar and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard J. Bowers of Fort St. James, B.C. Musical selections for the ceremony were provided by Mrs. Dale Hunter of Castlegar. Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a white lace gown in Spanish influence, its bodice featuring a yoke, leg-of-mutton sleeves and sweetheart neckliue, en- hanced by the groom's gift of a pearl necklace. The skirt of multi-tiers fell gracefully to the floor to form a train. A waist-length veil of tulle, trimmed with lace - matching her dress, misted from her lace Juliet cap, and she carried a bouquet of red roses and baby’s breath, trimmed with blue ribbon. Completing her ensem- ble was a pair .of pearl earrings, which had been given to her mother by her father on their wedding day. . A white hand-crocheted cloth, blue tapers and miniature bride and groom from the bride’s great-grandparents’ 50th an- niversary cake, decorated the head table. : A-family heirloom of a china bride and groom graced the top of the threc-tier wedding cake, which was iced in cream color and decorated with daisies in yellow and white.
