CASTLEGAR NEWS, Thuraday, September 16, 1978 Winlaw Man Illustrates Fairy Tale ft Book Written by Taghum iian By John Bohle Castlegar News. Slocan Valley Correspondent Robert Inwood of Winlaw is illustrating a new fairy tale book, authored by a local writer, that will be on the bookstands next spring. “In Search of the Wind King” is a book Fred Haake of Sproule Creek, near Taghum, wrote for his daughter Sarah. ‘Mr. Inwood met Mr. Haake when he was operating the Driftwood Book Store in Nel- son, He liked the fairy tale type of illusion and its fascinating imagery. A thumbnail sketch of the theme starts with a little girl regretting the wind dying while Injury Sustained In Single Car Accident Saturday A Castlegar man sustained shoulder injuries early Satur- day morning after his 1972 Valiant swerved to miss a deer. Donald John Shaw, whose vehicle received approximately $700 damage, was travelling east on Highway No. 3 just south of the city's boundary when the incident occurred. Shaw has been charged with driving without due care and attention, she was flying a kite. She hunts for a wind and calls for help from birds, animals. and a scholar. She first calls a crow, then a horse and finally, the scholar. Feeling tired she rests under a tree. A breeze starts up and she “inquires of it, where she could find a kite powered wind. The breeze informs her that this was the province of the Wind ~King and offers to carry her to his castle. Waking the Wind King from his nap Sarah presents her request and he promises her a kite flying wind. The Wind King then transports her to her home and in the morning comes the promised kite flying wind, Mr. Inwood's last three books were printed in Canada for Canadian audiences, The titles are “The Wild Plant Book,” “Tales From the New Age,” and a special coloring book for Habitat. Two large books he il- lustrated for Christian Bruyere were published by Drake Pub- lishing of New York and London. One illustrates the inovative homes of residents of ° the Slocan and nearby valleys. The second carried out the theme of creative country con- struction.
