That the provincial government support the pro- motion and implementation of fluoridation of public water supplies in the province. Director of the West Koot- enay Health Unit, Dr. N. Schmitt, informed the board that he had been assured by the ‘Associate Deputy Minister of Public Health Programs, Dr. K. LG. Benson, that high priority will be given to the construc- tion of a new Health, and Human Resource Centre build- ing for Grand Forks, as the present building is inadequate, to house present and future services. The new building may ‘be located at the site of the present Boundary Hospital where sufficient land is avail- able. Dr. Schmitt also advised the board that the government will make available one million doses of swine influenza vaccine in case it becomes necessary to embark on a mass immuniza- tion program this fall. Mean- while, there is no cause for alarm and the public will be kept informed of ongoing poli- cies in Supervisor of Public Health Nursing, Miss M. Thies- sen, informed the board that the increases in nursing care services in the Boundary area indicate that consideration should be given to the expan- sion of existing home care services for that district. Chief Public Health In- spector, M, Harnadek, recom- mended té the Union Board of } Health that the board’ pursue the need for watershed zoning legislation with the two re- gional districts, Swears Off Cars But Rides a Bike While He’s Drunk After three convictions for drunken driving, Charles Thomas Blain, a 39-yea jobless laborer, “swore off cars” and bought a bicycle. He appeared in magis- trate’s court, Brisbane, Aus- tralia, charged with being drunk on a bicycle and was fined $25.
