Register Those Skis; It Helps Identification The RCMP and ski clubs across -the country are co-. operating on a program de- signed to foil ski thefts, Such a program has been in effect at Red Mountain in years, but the Rossland club is increasing its eampaign this year to have skiers register their equipment. The Rossland detachment of the RCMP has provided the club with stickers and identifi- cation cards. These will be given to people who provide the club with the serial numbers and descriptions of their skis and bindings. cast The police estimate that thefts’ of ski equipment last season at Rossland totalled about $2,000 and likely over $10,000 around the Kootenays. Ski registrations will not likely stop theft, but they give the police basic information on which to conduct’ an investl gation, : The serial numbers and descriptions of stolen equip- ment would be fed by computer to ‘all areas of the country, making it much more difficult for the thief to dispose of it. , A further move a skier may make to protect his equip- ment is to have his name en- graved on his skis. Some ski shops provide this service at nominal cost. What Appeered tobe a Tas Honda the Grantvook Goslie Oly t6 Bounce Over the Gea alght is Seen. In the second period, the Rebels were scoreless to Nelson's one go-ahead goal, when Steve Bozek fired in the tying goal on assists from ‘Tassone and Gorkoff. However, Nelson came back with three goals to take the game 6-3. Shots on goal were 31 blocked by Dan McMullen and 40 by Nelson's Nick Morris.
