Those entries came from Rossland-Trail, Nelson, Chris- tina Lake, Kaslo and Salmo, The competition was very close as predicted. After finishing 18 holes of medal play, Ken Sherstobitoff of Castlegar, Bill Sherwood of Rossland-Trail, and Mike Wich- ert of Castlegar, were tied with low gross scores of 78 strokes. In a resulting extra hole, sudden death play-off, Mike Wichert came out on toptowin . the 1978 Junior Open. Ken Sherstobitoff took second place, and third place went to Bill Sherwood. : One shot behind the lead- ers in regulation play, Rob Dunn of Castlegar, checked in with-a 79 (net 69) to win the championship flight low net trophy. Tied for second place were Dan Fillipoff of Castlegar, and George Wlasoff of Chris- tina Lake. Dan had an 82, for a net of 74, and George shot an 84, fora low net score of 74, also, The first flight, low gross “ trophy, went to Greg Adams of Nelson, after a chip-off against Randy Kirby of Castlegar. Both golfers checked in with an 81. The first flight, low net trophy, was won by Dan Markin of Castlegar, who fin- ished with an 82, for a net of 69, Runner-up was Allan Simm of Rossland-Trail with an 88, for a 71 net. 5 e Car! Mike Pastuck of Nelson, proved to be a sharpshooter, again. He won the closest-to- the-pin contest on No. 3 hole. The circuit points team competition was won by the Castlegar foursome of Mike Wichert, Ken Sherstobitoff, Rob Dunn and Randy Kirby, with a total of 916, ahead of Rossland-Trail with 987, and Nelson with 847 strokes. The age-class winners were: 16 and over—Mike Wichert, Castlegar; 14 and 15— Greg Adams, Nelson; and 13 and under—Gordie Walker, Castlegar. We would like to thank the Bank of Montreal for the donation of 45 packages of golf-tees.
