The summer Changing Our Ways of Thinking: Peace, Environ ment and Global Justice in the 80s, will be held July 21 Aug. 1 at the former David ‘Thompson University Centre in Nelson. George Ignatieff, former Canadian ambassador to both NATO and the United Na tions, will be the guest speaker at the closing ban quet Aug. 1. Ignatieff, chancellor of the University of Toronto, has represented Canada at inter national arms talks and re cently become president of Scientists for Peace. Thirteen courses will be offered at the summer school. Among them are: Social Costs of the Arms Race, The Personal Economics of Peace; War Veterans in the Peace Movement; Citizen Diplomacy/Exploring the Enemy Within; Despair and Personal Power in the Nu- Nelson school, clear Age. Summer school — tor Bill Metcalfe said in prepared release that the school has been wisely pub licized in B.C., Washington and other places. “We want the summer school and similar projects during the year to evolve into @ permanent study centre, possibly with courses offered for university credit,” he said. He said the idea of the summer school is not to preach to the converted, but to provide anyone trying to know more about the issues with information and new ideas.
