be the keynote speaker at a
summer school concerned
with global issues.

said. “We see them not only
as international political
problems but as personal
problems of attitude and

Metcalfe said the school
will provide a unique oppor
tunity for in-depth discus-

preach to the converted, but

know more about the issues
with information and new
ideas.

All the ingredients but one
are in place for the Nelson
Midsummer Parade as it
shapes up for the July nos
talgia theme of “The Géod OF
Days.”

“That one ingredient left to
take shape is the commun-
ity’s participation,” said par
ade coordinator Brendes
Pearsall.

“This summer's parade
still has openings for local
floats and other entries, and
to encourage entries to build
floats and bands to par-
ticipate, the chamber is offer
ing attractive prize money
for the best overall float, the
float best adhering to theme,
as well as the best overall
band. Close to $2,000 in cash
is up for grabs.”

Lined up for this year's
parade are a number of spec-
ial guests. This year’s honor.

Bruno Gerussi, best known
for his role as Nick from the
CBC-TV show the Beach
combers.

“Mr. Gerussi has kindly

busy filming schedule at Gib-
sons,” commented Pearsall.

Legion Band and the Delta
Police Pipe Band, as well as

be confirmed.

Lake and Cranbrook

“The parade committee
has decided to move this
year's parade to Saturday
evening” added Pearsall, “to
better accommodate local
and out of town participants
who can better afford time
off to join us on the week
end.”

The parade will again start
out at Lakeside Drive by the
airport at 6 p.m. This year,
cold drinks will be sold while
participants are lining up.
