The Sr. Rockettes fell 3-1 to Rossland and "the. juniors lost 1-0 to Rossland. “The Rossland senior team is good and fast,” commented Castlegar coach Verna Cher-' noff. “It's the best team they've ever had. They just happened to get a good crop together.” The Rossland seniors com- peted in the provincial play- offs last year. But the Stanley Humph- ries teams also hope to do well. “We will be alright,” Cher- noff said, adding there are three girls who played junior field hockey last year on the senior team, as well as four Grade 12 girls. Chernoff, who gave up coaching field hockey two years ago after being at the helm for many years, is back at the job this year “because no one (else) would do it.” Pat West coached the se- niors last year but has moved out of the province. “We looked and looked and couldn't find anyone,” Cher- noff explained. She is coaching both the senior and junior teams. Some of the senior players are helping her coach the juniors. The juniors’ next game is Monday in Rossland. Wed- nesday the seniors play, in Nelson.
