Oldtime Fiddlers Kootenay No. 9 held their reg- ular monthly meeting Oct. 18, with 22 members present. Committee’s gave reports and plans were finalized for a dance Saturday at the Castle- gar and District Community Complex from 8 p.m. to 12 p.m., The public is invited to attend. Members will again play for the seniors dance on Nov. 21 at the seniors hall in Castlegar from 8 p.m.-11 p.m. It was noted that the dance on Oct. 17 had a small turnout and the fiddlers are hoping for a bigger crowd this time — Oldtime Fiddlers Kootenay No. 9 are still busy playing for various senior homes and groups in the area. The provincial contest held in Merritt on Labor Day Weekend was a huge success. Plans are well underway for the fiddlers’ annual Christ- mas party in December. The Oldtime Fiddlers Kootenay No. 9 practice every Tuesday at the seniors hall in Castlegar at 7 p.m. All musi- cians welcome to come. The next meeting will be Nov. 29 at the seniors hall at 2 p.m. CWL have ‘bazaar’ time Autumn leaves and flowers decorated the new Parish Hall for the annual Catholic Women’s League bazaar and tea on Sat- urday, Oct. 17. A record crowd took part in the festivities. The gala array of baking, sewing and novelties held the attention of many, while the diet baking table and the country cooking helped those with an eye for food. The girls from St. Rita’s confirmation class served tea and pastries for the tea tables which were full all moon. The door prize was won by Dorothy Fabiell with the $100 first prize in the raffle going to Devin Ambrosio. The second prize afghan was won by Bev Fisher and third prize stitchery pictures went to Ron Soberlak.
