The project will also help people upgrade their skills in meal planning, shopping and cooking. *“*The program encourages B.C. hospitals to work closely with . community-based service groups to help deliver new and innove health care services to local residents,’’ Health Minister John said in a news release. The Castlegar project is one of 16 Hospital/Community Partnership program initiatives approved so far this year valued at $498,613. 2 The Castlegar Hospital will work on the project with the Ministry of Social Services and Housing, the Central Kootenay Health Unit and community home support, mental health and child development agencies, the government says. Used truck purchase planned The Ootischenia fire protection plan has gotten oft to a good start with the planned purchase of a used pumper truck and a used tanker truck, said Ken Wyllie, Regional District of Central Kootenay director for Area J, which includes Ootischenia. Purchasing the used trucks may allow the Ootischenia fire protection commission to put more money into the construction of the fire hall, which will be built near the Ootischenia community hall, or other equipment, Wyllie said.
