Ferreira says he is disap- ~ pointed that the government is accepting written submis- sions on the proposed pur- chase up to Friday. He said that will only result in more paperwork and more time off the job for his 280 members. “Why did they have to wait to March 6,” he asked. “The public hearings were over on (Feb.) 14th. Ramsey, chair of the five- MLA committee studying the Pope and Talbot deal, is ex- pected to make a recommen- dation on the TFL transfer and mill purchase in two weeks. That will be followed by an official announcement on Pope and Talbot’s bid by Forests Minister Dan Miller on March 26. Ramsey could not be reached for comment by press time. “I don’t see why it has to take three weeks for them to decide, especially after receiv- ing final submissions on (March) 6th,” Ferreira argued. Ferreira said the letters, which were being signed at Super Valu Friday, should serve as areminder to the gov- ernment that Castlegar is committed to its forest indus- Ferreira said the public process has been tough on his membership.
