Notice is hereby given, that at the next sitting of the fren missioners for the Shey'ot Rossland, an application sult be made for & ftanster of the license now hed by Edwai e Headquarters. Rotel. situgted on the ‘southwest comer Of Fiest avenue and Waste Jagton street, Int 25, block D, Rossland, B. C., to William 1 Husban Dated this 25th nay of September, 1 Ep’ RY ARP AS 'ATSON, De. A. MILLOY, DENTIST. Rooms: Stone block, over Bank of Toronto Columbii ia Ane B. Huspanp. Last week’s ore iE ex- ceeded the 5000-ton mark and the prospects indicate a substantial and steady increase. A more encoure-. ging outlook could not be wished for, because while the active devel= opment of Rossland’s properties in- dicates substantial progress, the most gratifying evidence isin the actual shipments. The Le Roi, under the management of the B. A. C., has made the substagtial record of 75,000 tons, and is continuing with shipments of about gooo tons monthly. And now Mr. Carlyle has arranged for the treatment of the huge Le Roi dump, which at one time was considered almost worth- less. Here alone are some 110,000 tons of ore averaging $8 per ton, which is to be treated at such a fig- ure as to pay a handsome profit. This will be shipped at the rate of 200 tons per day, or 6Gooo tons per month. It. all goes to indicate the rapid progress of mining in Ross. land, and makes possible the devel: opment of low grade’ properties which have heretofore been passed over as. profitless.. It means thé creation of dividends, and dividends are what the investor is looking for. | “Nothing can aid so much to invite new capital, and when the. financial world is satisfied that the low grade properties, as well as those of higher value, can” be worked to ad-1§ vantage, there will be little. trouble in securing investments, ROSSLAND'S PROGRESS. No city in the province has made such rapid and substantial strides as has Rossland. The very appear- ance of the place impresses the new comer, not by any evidence of boom bustle, hut by that steady, healthy d business activity which promotes |° confidence and investment. Miles “of streets have been graded and im- -proved by sidewalks and crossings. There are no empty buildings and * the erection of numerous residences | marks the condition of prosperity. “This, more than anything else, is a feature is the growth of a city, be- cause such improvements are not usually made by men who jump in with the spirit of hasty speculation, but by those who are doing business here, who have had the opportunity of watching closely the turn of busi- ness affairs and who -have become convinced that the status‘ of our commercial and mining interests warrants them in making such ,im- provements as give a city the stamp of permanency. A more satisfac- tory condition could not be asked. There are no idle men. Carpenters are hard to get, mechanics of all classes are busy, miners are in de- mand, and the most cordial and satisfactory relations exist between ployer and employed. f has passed that stage when there is any doubt as to its future as the ac- tion of the schrewdest and most conservative. business men indicates. for Liquor License.
