My reason for attending was the fact I have recently completed a history of the Warriors and have the quoted cost of putting it into booklet form, so it may be sold at Warrior games this coming season. The executive agreed that is should be done and will endeavor to find a couple of sponsors to help out with the cost. .Of course, it will be available around town for anyone who wishes to read it and will have as many pictures of teams and players of other years as there is room for. I also learned that despite lean times, the executive bas named a coach and full executive to deal with whatever the team faces this season. Costs are naturally going to rise, but it is felt that with careful management we should be able to see the season through. Entry fees to the league are up this year, but the people I talked to feel we will be able to enjoy the Rossland Warriors again this season. Named to the executive for the coming season are Bob Zanussi as president, Bill Profill as vicepresident, Sandra Edwards will be the secretary and Darryl Wallis the treasurer. In charge of our team this season will be coach and general manager Bob Whitlock. I heard previously Bob was not keen . on staying with hockey this year, but something must have changed his mind. This comer fet!ls that Bob is definitely the man for the job and I hope be bas a successful and enjoyable season. The idea of amalgamating with some other center does not appeal to the elected board and that is something we can understand. Let's get out there fOI' every game and show the world, at least the Kootenays, that Rossland belongs in the Kootenay Jn. ternational Junior Hockey League. In league business I have learned that Spokane Flames will be back 'in the West Division this season. This is a team that is always competitive and will definitely be an asset to our division. Now to golf for a while. This week arrangements were made to utilize the upper course for extra activity. The B.C. Seniors championships being held this week at Bircbbank and Castlegar which prevented scheduling the ladies and the retirees from their regular day's activity at the lower course. Consequently they were routed to the upper course. A unique arrangement was worked out by the retirees who play the upper course on Tuesday, which saw them start out at 7 a.m. and the ladies came on at 8 a.m., until they were satisfied around 9:30 when the balance of the retirees could start. , All went along well and we were all home for lunch by 1 p.m. On Thursday of this week the Bircbbank retirees, who will lose their tee times at their usual spot, will join us at the upper course and our bunch will get an extra day of competition. I won't go beyond that because I'm not sure of the arrangement, but Joe BleW and Matt Mattson will be in charge. . . The winners this week, which saw a golfers out on a really great day were, Bill Vickers in low gross with a 43, Bill Woodburn took low net with 33 and Ernie Primeau took the long drive on no. 1.
