This is the introductory column in a series devoted to health topics of interest to British Columbians. ‘The fact that the writer is a practising phyatclan in this province should allow a more personal and topical approach to the exploration of matters of health than the nationally syn- dicated health columns can -provide. While some columns will consider individual diseases, sometimes in response to read- ers’ questions, others will stress methods of maintaining good health. Obviously no at- tempt can be made to diagnose or treat individual cases through 'a newspaper column. Questions regarding dis- eases, symptoms, and indeed, any health topic. will be wel- comed, as will comment and criticism of the articles 'them- selves. ° Only in this way can the series be kept topical and, hopefully, interesting. ‘The “doctor-patient: rela- tionship" and the personal, ethical, and legal implications of this relationship will be ex- plored. It is my hope that some descriptions of the work-a-day Me. of a doctor, and his jonsibilities in providing Individual and. community health care, will be of interest. Info/Health While factual information will be given as accurately as possible, many aspects of medi- cine Involve some degree of personal opinion, ‘Topic suggestions, com- ment, and questions are wel- comed, and should be sent to Dr. R.
