Longtime Fruitvale resident dies Nels Wilhelm Oscar John- son, 74, of Fruitvale passed away Jan. 19 in Trail Region- al Hospital. He was born Sept. 18, 1909 in Vilshult, Sweden and came to Nelson jn 1927, He worked in various and mining camps in the area, coming to Fruitvale in 1980,.where he resided until his death. He retired in 1975. Mr. Johnson enjoyed creek fishing, carpentry and cab- inet making. He is survived by his wife, Laura of Fruitvale; one daughter, Mrs. Carmen (Del- phine) Gipman of Rossland; two sons, Desmond of Blue- berry Creek and Keith of Castlegar; two sisters, Ruth and“ Ester in Sweden; six grandchildren, five great- grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and a sister. Cremation has taken place. Private interment will be held at a future date. Flowers gratefully declined.
