We have enjoyed, hopefully, happy results from all our frantic preparing, shopping, decorating, baking and corre- spondence. We have feasted and enjoyed the giving and re- ceiving of gifts. Yes, it is all over for another-year, or is it? The church and secular so- ciety have different calendars. For the secular world the Christmas season begins about the first of December and reaches its climax on Christmas Day, with the feast and gift exchange we have all looked forward to and which we all enjoy. But the church continues to try to observe the 12 days of Christmas, 12 days between the birth of the infant Jesus and the arrival of the Magi or wise men in Bethle- hem. We call that time ‘Epiphany’, simply a word that means -God’s show and tell time. God, showing Godself forth in human form and telling this good news to all the world. The Christmas and epiphany stories are lovely and wonderful, full of mystery Pulpit & Pew St. David’s Anglican Church The Rev. Dorothy BARKER and romance. We are -all touched by the birth ofa child, especially one surrounded by such an aura of extraordinary events, angels, dreams, vi- sions, shepherds and finally the magi from the East. Whether or not we believe the story in all its details, or whatever understanding we may have of these events, who can deny that there is a spirit abroad at Christmas-time that we wish we could prolong throughout the year. There is indeed a spirit of caring, of generosity, of joy and sharing, even dare we say it, a spirit of Dining Lounge There's something 365-2212 for everyone! ¢ Open 4 p.m. Daily - Located 1 mile South of Weigh Celgar, Westar & Cominco Meal Scales, Oc 365-3294 SEASONS GREETINGS To all our customers from the staff at Chicken Time. Shall we put away also that which we have experienced of God this holiday season? Shall we wrap it up and leave it hid- den until next December? We do not have to do that. The choice is ours to let that life grow within us. The single essential need of life is to live in the continuing awareness of God, in awe and reverence as the shepherds offering our gifts and talents as the magi for the work of God in the world. If we see the Christ Child as salvation, light and revelation for all people, we will indeed see God at work in the world in the lives of individuals, groups and nations. We can indeed carry Christ- mas into the whole year as we continue to believe in its mes- sage, its power and love. | fr CHURCH DIRECTORY T _SeREERER NUE mmeRNONEOI NTE, CALVARY BAPTIST CHURCH 809 Merry Creek Rd. 365-3430 PASTOR: BOB MARSH — SUNDAY MINISTRY — p.m. — Evening Fellowship Home Growth Groups (Bible Study & Prayer) Various Weeknights Youth Nights F UNITED CHURCH SOF CANADA 2224-6th Avenue 10.a.m. Worship 10 a.m. Sun.
