STAT 105 - INTRODUCTION TO STATISTICS STAT 105: Introduction to Statistics is intended for social, environmental science and business students and others who would benefit from a one-term statistics course. General themes include descriptive statistics, probability, probability and sample distributions, confidence intervals and hypothesis testing. Pre-requisites: Foundations of Math 12 or Pre-calculus 11 or equivalent, with a grade of "C+" or better, or written permission of the Instructor and Schoo! Chair. STAT 206 - STATISTICS This course provides an introduction to statistical methods intended for students of Engineering or the Sciences. Descriptive statistics, probability and inferential statistics are covered at a level appropriate for students with some calculus background. The students will learn to calculate confidence intervals and perform hypothesis testing for experiments involving one and two samples. Linear regression and correlation may be introduced if time permits. Pre-requisites: Math 700 or Math 140 or an equivalent calculus course that introduces integral calculus. TWC 164 - INTRODUCTION TO REPORT AND LETTER WRITING TWC 164: Introduction to Report and Letter Writing is an introduction to the fundamentals of effective written communication. Components include communication theory and its application to business situations. Students are required to master basic English writing skills and show competence in producing conventional technical formats, such as memoranda, business letters, short or informal reports, résumés and cover letters. Pre-requisites: FNGL 12 with a grade of "C+" or better, or LPI score of Level 4 or higher. TWC 165 - ORAL PRESENTATIONS AND SKILLS TRAINING TWC 165: Oral Presentations and Skills Training focuses on complex oral and written communication. Material covered includes how to conduct technical research; how to use graphics; how to write instructions, formal reports, and proposals; how to write for the Web, and how to give informative and persuasive oral presentations.
