A Kootenay Lullaby, a earefully and competently writ- ten little drama of the trials and triumphs of a struggling tour- ing repertory company of the same time and area, is the evening presentation. DENNIS the MENACE = Fata 9] LANDERS Ann Landers: I'm not calling you “Dear” because your stinking ‘advice ruined my life. : Two weeks ago I wrote and asked if I should tell my finance I had a pair of twins out of wedlock when I was 15 year ald. It happened seven years ago in a small town, a thousand miles from here. The babies were put up for adoption. (They will never know who or where I am and I have no idea where they are.) ~ Your advice was, “Tell him.” So I did. Well, he looked at me like I had just crawled out from under a rock. Then he screamed, “You really had me fooled acting so goody-goody, and now it turns out you're nothing but a tramp.” With that he stomped out of the house and slammed the door so hard the knob fell off. So instead of shopping for my wedding dress I am home ‘erying me eyes out. Thanks for nothing. I should have followed my hunch and kept my mouth shut. —Sorry I Ever Heard Of You Dear Sorry: The advice was good. The guy was a bummer. What do you think your life would be like if he found out about your past :After the marriage? : Some men are incapable of accepting such a situation and :obviously your finance is one of those men. My mother lives in Kansas City. ‘Whenever she sees something in your column about smoking, ‘drinking, doing dope or a single girl getting involved with a married man, she clips it out and sends it to me. I don't do any of this stuff and I wish she would stop treating me like I was 12 years old. 1 see the Sun-Times every day and I can read your column here if I feel like it. Maybe if You tell her she will listen, Please try. Sign me . 2 —Feet On The Ground Dear Feet: I'll do my best. . Dear Mom: Please stop sending your daughter my columns from Kansas City. She can read them in Chicago if she wants to. P.S. This goes for mothers everywhere. Adult children resent unsolicited advice and I don't blame them. —Ann Landers Dear Ann Landers: Since large numbers of U.S. citizens come up here on holiday I wonder how many of your countrymen realize that in the Province of Quebec, the speed limit allowed is shown in kilometers—in Large figures, The speed limit in miles appears in much smaller print and is not easily seen at a distance. To convert the kilometers into miles one should multiply the number of kilometers by six, then drop the figure to the extreme right. The ining number is approxi ly the number of miles allowed. Here is an example: 50 (kilometers per hour) times 6 equals 300. Lop the last 0 off the 300 and you get approximately 30 miles per hour. That's the spped limit. Another example: 70 kmh x 6 = 420, Again drop figure at extreme right and you get 42... or 42 miles an hour speed limit. —Bienvenue Air Quebec Dear Bien: Thank you for a short course in the conversion of kilometers into miles, Your letter could prevent some serious accidents and even save some lives.
