Haladay shows the same
pizzazz in pushing second-
hand planes that some sales-
men have with used cars,
Only more so. -

Haladay, whose annual
bill for long-distance tele-
phone calls is about $30,000,
says the key to success in
sales is a touch of crass.

That means using a
highly-developed sales patter
that has lots of drama and is
designed to bring any reluc-
tant buyers right out of the
clouds.

Haladay, who was born
in Minneapolis and started
flying while still a teenager,
says he has sold more than
3 000 planes.

“Business is good and
will get better,” he said in an
interview. “The price of new
aircraft has risen 50 per cent
in the last three-and-a-half

years.

“Small corporations
have to buy used aircraft or
they can’t afford it. We'll
continue to upgrade used
aircraft because the new ones
are a little different.”

NEW PLANES COSTLY

Haladay, -who spent
$921,000 in the last three
months buying and selling
planes, feels prices for new
aircraft are far out of line.

“There is something
wrong when the price of a
common bush-operation Az-
tec twin is up over $250,000.”

Haladay, 60, served in
the U.S. Air Force and has
owned whole fleets of mil-
itary discards, ranging from
Mustangs to B-17 Bombers to
DC-3s.

He said there are about
100 dealers in used airplanes
in North America.and ranks
himself in the top 25 of that
group. .

Canada’s District Taxation
offices and Data Centres.
Many graduates go into busi-
ness for themselves or oper-
ate a U & R franchise. The
course is revised every year
to encompass changes in: the
tax laws.

cause money is not as tight in
Alberta as in Manitoba.
