Life on mission =

Several months ago we printed exerpts from, inion by
former Castlegar teacher and now missionary, in Equador,’ .
John Munday. Over the past 25 years, John has, in spite of

ill-health, a home for
abandoned ‘children in Quito. Since the previous letters
elicited a number of inquiries and as a small tribute to one
man's faith, courage and compassion I would like to offer
exerpts from two more recent letters from John: (first of a
two-part series; °
Dear Jack and "Bunny, Bruce and all:

Yesterday I had another appointment with my. ‘eye
doctor who measured my right eye, now equipped with a
contact Ions, for bifocals to be worn in addition to the lens.
He's now waiting for a donor cornea to be flown from Miami
as he wants to operate on the left eye as soon as possible, as
its cornea continues to cloud over.:So I'am on call.

Since I. last wrote, I look Maria del Carmen,’ my

Two weeks ago I relented to repeated requests on the
part of his depserate family, and added 11-year-old Ivan to
the fold. He is another victim of an irresponsible mother who
has had about a dozen children from as.many men, and until
bis grandmother beeame fl, waa cared for uy her. He arrived
on the scene a few days after Miguel Angel. (mentioned in a
previous letter) decided to fly the coop. Miguel Angel — or
Angel for short — could not tolerate the restrictions and

18-year-olds, Rodrigo, Waldo and Victor are due for military
conscription, but as Rodrigo has no eyes and Victor has flat
