Over the past 25 years, John has, in spite of ill-health, a home for abandoned ‘children in Quito. Since the previous letters elicited a number of inquiries and as a small tribute to one man's faith, courage and compassion I would like to offer exerpts from two more recent letters from John: (first of a two-part series; ° Dear Jack and "Bunny, Bruce and all: Yesterday I had another appointment with my. ‘eye doctor who measured my right eye, now equipped with a contact Ions, for bifocals to be worn in addition to the lens. He arrived on the scene a few days after Miguel Angel. (mentioned in a previous letter) decided to fly the coop. Miguel Angel — or Angel for short — could not tolerate the restrictions and of an ed home si for he'd lived too Jong ‘on the streets‘ of Quito, and one’ morning just disappeared.
