Trail Times 7 Friday, December 18, 1981 , Tuesday the annual Christmas party for the Retirees Club and the Ladies was held in the Curling Club lounge. This is one party that riot too many of the men miss, yesterday it was the same as. usual with practically every member present, the ladies club is not quite so strong this year but one thing you can be sure of, there is always lots to eat and drink and it is there in great variety. After the usual welcoming speeches by Dorothy Fines on behalf of the ladies and Cleve Cowlaild for the men, we sat down to a really grand meal of cold cuts,-and lots of spicy dishes. A door prize draw was made and Ollie Schulz was the winner. After filling up at the tables there was fun curling for some, others sat back and watched and like curlers the world over, criticized those out on the ice and explained what they would have done in dozens of like situations. It was a great way to wind up the first part of the season. We'll all sit around now until the holidays are over before we go at it in earnest again. That's not exactly right either, we of the retirees have games Thursday to cap off our opening half but the ladies are all finished. Seeing that its getting to be the last week before the Christmas holiday, this sbould_be LBUitablA tJmo..lnl! always make the headlines, like Doug, Chris, Barb and Marilyn and all of you who make it go, to Jack, KeMy, Raymond, Amie who help keep it going, my best wishes for the holidays and the New Year. , To the Sno-goers and t elated organizations, may you. too have a good holiday,_ it seems any wishes you may have had of good snow conditions have pretty well been answered so to you all a really successful season and keep up your good work on behalf of the not-so-fortunate kids in co-operation with the local Lions Clubs. To the newly-elected officers of the Legion, may you have a good term of office before you and may good fortune follow throughout the coming year. And to anyone I may have missed in this Christmas wish, don't feel. bad, I've been known io forget things before, but at this time of the year I find it hard to feel badly towards anyone. So, to finish up this week I'll say, "Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year," to all who may tum to this particular spot in The Times for a few moments of relaxation. ctly , we of the retirees have games Thursday to cap off our opening half but the ladies are all finished. Seeing that its getting to be the last week before the Christmas holiday, this should be a suitable time for me ,to express my best wishes to some of my good friends around the country and thus save the expense of sending cards all over, so here goes. To the Rossland Warriors, I send the wish they will find something to help them win those games that they need so badly if they are to get into the playoffs in the New Year. T.o all the teams in the West Divisioa I send the wish for continued success on the le, and improvement at the gate, they have provided us with some first.class entertainmant during the pat two months and they deserve the best we can wish for them. And to the league as a whole, from President Jim Markle to the lowliest stickboy, thanks for a job well done and may all your hopes for the future be granted to the fullest extent . to Roy Casler and his merry men of. the Senior Smokies, the people on the board who are working so bard at trying to make the club another success story in these days of flagging interest, may your dreams for another Allan Cup be given a big boost in the t&w Year.
