STREET NURSE POSITION

Central Kootenay Health Unit, Castlegar, and ANKORS (AIDS Network, Outreach
and Support Society) are Seeking an independent individual who will:

~ Coordinate and provide a NEEDLE EXCHANGE PROGRAM based on a Harm
& Risk Reduction Model

- Promote healthy behaviors within the Intravenous Drug Use population.

- Provide heatth care, referral, community development and liaison for the
IDU population and the community at large.

- Document, track and make recommendations for future program planning
and outreach activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

~ Licensed to practice Nursing in the Province of B.C. under the Registered
Nurses Act. BSN or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The successful candidate must hold a valid B.C driver's license and be
Prepared to use their car for work.

~ Preference will be given to individuals with experience in addiction
counselling based on the Harm Reduction model and with experience
working in a Community Development model.

- The person selected must have excellent communication skills and
demonstrated ability to work independently.

~ References and a criminal record check required.

This position will pay $28 per hour for thirteen hours per week. No benefits.
The position will begin on December 1, 1995 and end on May 31, 1996.
