young ‘person would soon look elsewhere for

ployment combines with boredom to cause
community problems: ranging from drug and
alcchol abuse to shoplifting.

But there is a limit to the amount of guilt we
can assume for the behavior of others. And that
limit! is the. senseless, spiteful and criminal
destruction of. public Property at Pass’ Creek
Regional Park last. week.

having responded to the shape-
up-or-die call of ParticipAction
and others, are running for
their sweet lives.

In fair weather and foul,
dressed in sweat-sodden see-
throughs, they .are pounding
well-trodden paths to bigger
hearts, new- vitality—and a
realization that long-distance

running isn’t half as lonely as it he..

I've never. become ‘a’ jog-
ger. It’s not that I don’t want to
join the madding crowds out
there, it’s a matter of self-
protection, I'm unco-ordinated '
to the point of potential: self-
destruction.

With all! this inactivity,
however, it was not surprising
that a while back I was shocked
to learn that Richard Nixon and
I had something in common—
our blood had become so bored,
it was clotting.‘in phlebital
disgust.
