The complex will also house a new senior citizen's centre, as well as a centre for the arts. Encouraging for the entire region is the growing interest in the mighty Columbia River. While neglected for many years, valley residents are keen to see the river banks cleaned up and the river utilized for the community's benefit. Not surprisingly, Trail and Castlegar are working together to host the first annual jet boat race on the fast water between the Keenleyside Dam and the U.S, border. the area.
