Conroy retired after five years as a trustee for School District No. 9. Conroy served on several committees and was mainly the school representative to Tarrys Elementary. During the past two years, the Board and involved in negotiations with CUPE and the teacher's union. Conroy is best remembered for his fight to save rural schools and his interest in bringing a broad range of com- munity matters to the Board table. don Tumer presents a plaque to former Trustee Doreen Smecher who retired from the Board after 11 years of continous service. During that time, Smecher served on many of the Board's committees, most notably on the Management and the Build- ings/Grounds committees.
