During the first game of the evening, the SHSS Jr. boys team one circles around the Kaslo Eagles. At the end of the first quarter it was SHSS with a comfortable 32-0 advantage. Throughout the second quarter the Jr. Rockers held their opposition to only one and scored pretty much at will themselves. With a firm grip on how to control the flow of the game the Rockers sat down for the half time, break with a 50-2 lead. Coming out for the second half the junior boys main- tained control adding to their lead. By the end of the third quarter they had extended their lead to 70-8. When the final buzzer sound- ed and the mesh stopped swing- ing the Rockers had surmounted a final tally of 93-9, Most of the SHSS Senior boys had been watching the ball handling skills and lots of speed during the warm-up and in the first quarter, which ended in a 10-10 deadlock. But rocking was the name of the game and the SHSS boys turned up the volume building a 30-20 lead by the half. ‘The ten point spread stayed con- ‘stant for the third quarter. Both teams swished their Way to 16 points, end- ing in a 46-36 in favour of SHSS. Coming out with a goal to increase the point spread during the final quarter, the Rockers junior game, but when the Kaslo Senior boys took to the court it was obvious that they had more flight time under their wings. Each player was decked out in matching outfits into which went lots of effort from the players for fund raising. The Kaslo team had excellent hed that goal ringing the scoreboard up to a 71-50 final score. Sharing the scoring duties for the Rockers were: Ryan Vatkin with 16; Marcel Dusseault and Jeff Moffat each had 15; and Dan Kooznetsoff helped out with 13. Rocking reps rebound next, when they travel to North- port, Washington for the Northport Secondary School tournament. Sun Sports 2 +6 Ege Ore Representing Castlegar is a tough job, but the local Bantam, Midget and Pee Wee teams have been doing quite a decent job of late. Castlegar's Bantam Rep team chalked up another victory Satur- day, December 12, against Spokane. The Reps stole the game out from under the feet of the Spokane team by scoring six goals during the third period to scoop a 6-5 Finding themselves three goals behind early in the third period, the Reps came to life. Nine of the games goals were scored during 12 minutes of the third period. Castlegar’s first marker came from the stick of Ryan Kinakin 4:54 into the period. With one mark on the board, was on the road to eras- ing the three-goal deficit they found themselves in. Swanson recently returned to Castlegar’s Bantam Rep team from a stay with the local Kootenay International Spokane tied the game up 13 seconds later with a goal scored by Matt Sitting even at four, the next Castlegar go-ahead goal was scored by Kent Fauth at 14:50. With the one goal lead, Mike minutes left in the period, but was forced to spend the last two min- utes of the game without their coach, as he was ejected by the referees for disputing a roughing call on one of his players. Castlegar Bantam Reps will Not see their next action at home until early in the New Year. In Midget action over the December 11-13 weekend the Castlegar team played to three decisive victories out of their three games. Their first game of the busy weekend had the local Reps matched up against the team Rep- resenting Rossland/Trail. The final score was 9-4 with Blaine Wilson playing in net for Castle- gar. While Wilson was doing his job keeping the puck out of the net his teammates were doing a fine job putting the puck in the other net. On the offensive side of things for Castlegar, Brian Grycan helped his team towards the victo- ry with three goals and one assist, Derek Read popped two past the Rossland/Trail netminder and assisted on two others. Both Fred Gienger and Jason Boden each had one goal and two assists. With the taste of victory on their lips the Midgets continued their winning ways when they played a game against Spokane in Nelson. The Saturday match was even more one sided as Castlegar took control of the game 8-2. Doug Taylor did his time between the posts for the local Reps. During the first period Spokane jumped ahead to a 2-1 Icad. Castlegar goal was scored by Tyler Damell. Castlegar out scored Spokane 2-1 during the second period to tie the game at three. Goal scorers for the local Reps were Brian McCor- mack and Ryan Leckie. Castlegar came out shooting ih the third period netting three goals to Spokane’s one in the early part of the period. Castlegar goal scor- ers were: McCormack assisted by Brad Abietkoff; Jay Antignani from Ryan Wenger and Ryan Leckie; Reed Byers with a little help from Jason Quiding and Leckie. Castlegar was in control of the game with a 6-4 lead, until with six minutes to go in the third peri- od that lead started to dissolve. Spokane rallied back to score three goals, the last one and the winner with only 19 seconds left in the game. The first weekend in December the Pee Wee's were in Ki for a Triple A tournament. The Pee Wee Reps played teams from Alberta, Kimberley and Beaver Valley. They finished the tourna- ment with a record of 1-3.
