As the crowd gathered at the station so eager were they ‘to catch sight of the in- coming train that the police and guards had great difficulty in keep- ing a passage way open. Torpedoes had been placed along the track just above the station, and as the train approached these were exploded by the engine, torming an appropriate salute. The engine was beautifully deco- rated and as the train came in, with the dense crowd surging ever nearer and nearer, it presented an impres- sive app The Rossland Rangers, constituting the guard of honor, drew up on the platform and opened ranks, while the reception committee waited at the steps of the coach to give the visitors their first greeting to Rossland.
