There was a time when our higher education facilities were located in only the two major cities, and catered almost solely to high school graduates studying for. degrees. g Community Colleges have changed all that. To begin with, there are more of them — nine in all — serving British Columbians throughout the province. What's more, they offer a vastly expanded program, spanning the entire range of academic; vocational and recreational needs. And they're extremely flexible, to allow for special needs and interests in particular areas. ~ Also, they offer a unique “Adult Re-Entry” system. They're actively involved with Canada Manpower, the Department of Human Resources and other social agencies in providing a full range of academic subjects, trade- training and technical programs — even for those with incomplete high school education. And, in cases where you can't get to them, they'll even deliver. That's what we mean by “expanding horizons”.
