Hanging just one large picture doesn’t present too many problems but we don't want to move six smaller pictures three times and have 18 holes in the wall. The trick here is to determine the area you wish to fill with these pictures and—using newspaper or string—measure out this area on the floor or table. Arrange the pictures dif- ferent ways within this area until you are satisfied. Measure from the outside of this “edge” to where the nail should be placed and remeasure this on your wall, Use the smallest nails you Elusive Ailment can and if necessary use the right-sized hanger to go with it, In the case of old plaster walls that crack when nailed it may be necessary to drill a small hole first or use a plece of masking tape under the nail to keep the plaster from cracking. A picture should be hung at eye level or below, especially since in most of our rooms we spend a great deal of the time sitting or lying down and in this position the pictures will ap- pear even higher. We shouldn't be afraid to hang pictures right above a table or stereo next toa lamp to fill in the space and balance the area. In this case the picture is taking the place of an accessory or can be placed in conjunction with one, The diagrams should give you lots of: ideas as to the different ways to hang pictures but keeping the smaller ones in groups is the most effective way to decorate your walls. IT WAS A CLOUDY DAY in carly July as we travelled into a town that we had never seen before. - We had travelled about 1,500 miles pulling our tent trailer from the Yukon Terri- tory to Prince George, where we picked up my sister and two nieces who had come west from Ontario on their holidays. Now we were winding down the highway into Castlegar, the town where we would begin a new pastorate in a couple of months. We were totally misin- formed regarding the town and that may have been just as well. It was much larger than we expected and the valley setting was lovely. As it was getting late, we found a camp- site for the night and then began to tour the town. WE HAD SEVERAL names of people from the church and we began to seek them out, mostly without suc- cess. Then the rain came. We returned to the campsite not even having found the church but happy with the new com- munity we would soon be making our home. The following day, we did meet several of the people whose names and addresses we had. We soon discovered that the people were as friendly and warm-hearted as the scenery was lovely. WE ALSO DISCOVERED that all this rain was not the norm. Having finally found the church and having been treated royally by our new friends, we made our way eastward for holidays happy with the thought of returning to Castle- gar. After attending the Dia- mond Jubilee Conference of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada, we quickly returned home to-Castlegar. We have found there is a deep spiritual hunger that many people have, regardless of their church affi- liations. This is a good sign but also carries with it the respon- sibility for us as pastors to feed those who hunger with the Living Bread, Jesus Christ. WE THANK YOU FOR the warm welcome to Castlegar and pray that God will give us wisdom and love to reach out to you and your need regardless of who you are or your station in life. y from five to 15 years of routine drinking to appear. When it does, it is most easily recognized in persons who add a weekend dose of rather heavy drinking to their regular daily routine. Typically, the pain in the abdomen occurs within 24 to 48 hours after such weekend drinking, Bank said recently. The pain tends to last for days rather than hours. “The guy may go to work on Monday morning, but by Monday night, he is starting to feel a lot of pain. He may go toa * doctor seeking help.” The pain usually is felt in the upper abdomen and radiates to the side ‘and back. It is usually persistent and does not respond to antacids or food. After the attack subsides, the patient will return to his usual drinking habits. Most sufferers experience two to four such attacks a year, Bank said. Since the pain occurs a day or two after the drinking epi- sode, it can be difficult for doctors to spot the actual cause of the pain unless they i inquire carefully about the Person's lifestyle, the g: 5 of the pancreas. She said other conditions which contribute to work- caused injuries and disease, such as lack of training and work-environment induced stress, can be eliminated if employers work with the union to develop programs designed to correct such conditions, “All at once injured workers given light duty in order to qualify for compensation benefits, In the forest industry, one delegate said, “there simply isn't such a thing as light duty." But the outcome is con- fused, especially in B.C. Tourism promoters in the New England states have per- suaded hundreds of” hotels, motels, restaurants and other businesses to accept the Cana- dian dollar at par with the U.S. dollar as an enticement to Canadian visitors during the off-season. However, on the West Coast, Canadians are unlikely to get such a break. At least, not immediately. Washington State travel development director Bill Shaw said the U.S. Travel Service held seminars in Spokane and Seattle last month to push the idea. “It looks promising as far as Washington State is con- cerned, but we decided to see if each ity would favor said. it,” he said.
