The WI, decided to give a cash donation to the Legion for its Christmas hampers. Each member made # dona- tion. : Members will again donate cookies for shut-ins and gifts for residents of Raspberry Lodge. The WI hopes to convene a ‘pake’ table at the Legion bazaar Dee. 7. About 25 nurses and student nurses gathered to hear guest speakers Maureen Little and Susan Little. Maureen Little, who has done research on the ‘> subject and worked with victims of child sexual abuse in ~ and the Castlegar school board will be asked to consider ed Nurses of B.C. The Kit is designed for use in Schools. Toronto, told of her findings and experiences. She told of how one in three girls and one in nine boys will be victims of child sexual abuse before the age of 18. Susan Little then demonstrated and explained the CARE (Child Abuse Research and Education) kit which is designed for use in schools. This kit is in use in 66 of the 75 B.C. school districts using the package in ‘district schools. Come and Polly Konkin passed away Saturday, Nov. 23 at the age of 76. Funeral service was held Monday and Tuesday at the Castlegar Funeral Chapel and Tarrys Hall, with burial in the Brilliant Cemetery. Mrs. Konkin was born July 2, 1909 at Blaine Lake, Sask. and moved with her parents to Thrums when she was a small child. She grew up and married Fred Konkin at Thrums, where she lived all her life.
