Newhouser was pre- sented with a decorated birth- day cake in honor of her 77th birthday by her daughter, Mrs, N. McNabb. The cake was then cut and served to all members the tables were being cleared, Christmas carols were enjoyed by. the seniors,... with Mrs, Newhouser accom- ‘ panying on the piano. From all reports, the young people sure don't lack in Christmas spirit. Many groups such as the 1st Kinnaird Beavers and Cubs, Robson Beavers and Cubs and, T'm sure, the boys from Castle- gar and Blueberry Creek (nel- ther group has been heard from as yet) have been busy making Christmas wreaths, table cen- ter pieces and many other “welcome decorations for their homes. Santa Claus has made his visit to each group and was heard to comment that boys that have been as busy as they have must have been good boys and could look for him ori’ Christmas Eve. Hamper Draw The district council's Christmas hamper draw was a successful venture and ‘the winner of the $100 hamper has been determined. She is seven- year-old Michelle Coyle of Rob- son, We understand she bought her ticket with her own money. She was the. only one in her family to buy a ticket and the - ‘vest of her family members weren't even aware of her purchase. This little girl must be very proud to be able to give her family the added gift of a hamper full of all the usual Christmas goodies. We're sure she is very happy and we'd like to congratulate her. Senior citizens’ meetings 4 will resume on the afternoon of Jan. 6. ings to Funeral Service Held For John Argatoff Prayer services were held Friday evening from the Glade Russian Hall, concluding Satur- day afternoon, for John Peter Argatoff, 85, who died last ‘Thursday at his home in Glade. Mr. Argatoff was born in Russia on May 10, 1692. As a child, he came to Canada with his parents and settled in Saskatchewan. He moved to Brilliant in 1910 and four years later, he married the former Tina Mokonen. They moved to + Glade, where they had since made their home. Mr, Argatoff was a mem- ber of the Union of Spiritual Communities of Christ.
