Young, the scholarship recipient from the AKBM's central area, is a student at the Uni- versity of Victoria. The scholarships are awarded to Grade 12 grads attending their first year of post-sec- ondary education. To be eligible, students must reside within AKBM b ies, exhibit leadership quali- P studies in l or applied at a British Columbia university., The scholarships were blished in 1989 by Dr. Paul Trussell, who grew up in the Kootenays and went on to become one of the province's most distingui d scientists and scientific administrators before his recent re- tirement. A Trussell scholarship is worth $5,000 per year for four years and is paid from an endow- ment fund established by the Trussells with hing funds from the provincial govern- ties, maintain good marks and be able to doc- ument involvement in community and school activities.
