resources courses — as well as
anyone interested in B.C.  wild-
flowers — will benefit greatly from a
donation to Selkirk College by Trail
resident George Whitehead.

Dr. Peter Wood, biology instruc-
tor, and Dennis Holden, forestry in-
structor, visited Whitehead recently
at his Trail residence to receive more
than 1,500 close-up color transparen-
cies of B.C. wildflowers he has
photographed over the last 20 years.

“Mr. Whitehead’s collection is a
wonderful resource that will benefit
students in several disciplines,’’
Wood said in a news release.

Whitehead, 79, who retired from
Cominco where he was a chief
operator in the acid plant, became
interested in photographing B.C.
flora when he purchased his first
single-lens reflex camera. At first,
Whitehead was simply entranced by
the beauty revealed by — close-up
photographs of wildflowers.; Later,
