On September 4, Mr. Moreira took the senior girls on their first road trip of the sea son to Metaline Falls, Idaho. The Lady Cats came in first in the round robin tournament, defeating teams from Selkirk (Metaline), Northport, and Cusick. The girls from Metaline will come to Mt, Sentinel later this month for a return game. On September 18, Moreira and his teamtrav elled to Spokane, Washington to participate in the Super Volley Classic Tournament, playing against Kennewick, Mead, Richland, and Sha- dle Park. It was a tournament that brought together the strongest teams in Eastern Wash- ington and Eastern B.C. “Our 2-10 standing was not indicative of poor playing,” said Mor- eira, “In fact, the girls played very well against extremely strong competition.” Dave Olynyk, coach of senior boys volley- ball is looking forward to a good season with his team. the boys are strong athletes, with good attitude, and are willing to work hard. We expect to be in the top three of the province this season”, says Olynyk. October Ist and 2nd will have all teams on the courts: the senior boys will be at UBC, senior girls will host the 14th Annual Kootenay Classic, and the Juniors will host the 8th Annu- al Junior Invitational. Exciting plans from the mu.'~ and drama departments are “in the making”. On Novem- ber 5 and 6, Mt. Sentinel will host the B.C Junior Honour Band.
