Clubs Day was held October 7. All the clubs set up displays and welcomed new members The following clubs were involved: Interact Club; Library Club, Writers Club; Drama Club; D.J. Club; Theatresports Club: Archery Club; CounterAttack Club; Environment Club; Score keepers Club; Games Club; and the Cheerleaders Club. We held our second dance of the year on October 22. One dollar from each admission went to the Kootenay Columbia Child Care Society and $294 was donated. The Grads if 94 have been busy this-fall. In September there was a carwash and some Grads | participated in the Terry Fox Run for cancer research. Also, there was a parent and Grad meeting In October the Grads donated blood at the blood donor clinic Upcoming events include dress- up day, a Christmas dance and a Grad Murder Mystery dinner Look for next week's column which will include athletic new and more about upcoming Grad activities, Blueberry Creek bonfire a spooktacular time! Submitted About 100 children and adults, many of them wearing very original costumes, partici pated in a bonfire and a hot dog feed held at Blueberry Créek Park on Hallowe'en night. A spectacular sparking bonfire drew a large crowd from Blue berry and Fairview with lively chatter, joking laughter and good-will taking place around the warm fire. He succumbed peacefully in Eagle Ridge Hospital surrounded by his family. Gregg was 36 years of age He was born in Rosetown, Saskatchewan and moved at~an early age to the Kootenays with his family. He received his educa. tion in Castlegar and Trail, returning to Saskatchewan in his mid-teens to work and complete his education. In the early 1980's he returned to B.C. where he worked in Vic- toria, Vancouver, Castlegar and then settled in the Lower Main- land. He completed his journey- man Carpenters training in 1988. A short time later he began his own contracting firm, Westall Construction, and gained a credi- ble reputation in these few years. Gregg enjoyed the outdoor activities offered by every area in which he lived. Gregg is survived by his lov ing wife Jackie; special daughter Christine - age 10 and infant daughter Katie Lyn; Parents Don Ivy Hagen {vy Hagen of Castlegar passed away October 28, 1993 She was bom in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on December 27, 1910. She enjoyed crafts and travel- ling and was an active member with the Salvation Army until she was unable, due to ill health. The past few years she was a resident of Columbia View Lodge in Trail and Castle View Lodge in Castlegar. She is survived by: a son Arthur (Art) Hagen; daughter Daisy Larrimore of New Denver, and daughter and son-in-law Vio- let and Philip Popoff of Castle- gar, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a kind, caring fnend Linda Manlgy She was predeceased by her husband, Gilbert in 1987. The re will be no funeral by her request Cremation has taken place. Mary Ozeroff On Saturday, October 30 1993, Mary Ozeroff of Thrums, B.C. passed away at the age of 94 years. Funeral service was held at the Castlegar Funeral Chapel on Monday and Tuesday with buri- al at the Brilliant Cemetery. Mrs. Ozeroff was born Octo- ber 14, 1899 in Saskatchewan She grew up in the Arran and Pelley areas of Saskatchewan and came to Thrums, B.C. in 1931. She lived there since Mrs. Ozeroff was a member of the USCC, enjoyed garden ing, knitting, weaving and her farm animals. She is survived by: two daughters, Elsie Rilkoff of Oliv er and Mary Tarasoff of Thrums; 15 grandchildren and many greal and great-great grandchil- dren; one brother, Jack Brisco of Grand Forks; three sisters, Tina Kazakoff of Grand Forks, Rose Zeberoff of Pelley, Saskatchewan and Wasoonya Markin of Benito, Manitoba She was predeceased by both of her husbands and one son, Jack Kabatoff. Funeral service Was held ai St David's Anglican Church on Monday, November 1, 1993 with Cannon Dorothy Barker officiat ing. Cremation followed. Mrs. Fowler was born Decem:- ber 9,1904 at Minto, Manitoba She grew up in Belmont, Manito: ba and attended Norn School in Brandon. She taught at Rus sell, Manitoba for a few years and then began her nurses train ing at Grace Hospital in Win nipeg and completed her training at Winnipeg Central Hospital She moved to Trail in 1935 and began working at the Trail Hospital, working there until 1960. She worked for Dr. Goret. zky in Castlegar for many years on a volunteer basis. She also worked for dentists, Dr, Bothem ley and Dr Walley. She marned Gilbert Fowler in 1939 and ha lived in Castlegar for the past 54 years Mrs. Fowler enjoyed knitting and leather crafts, fishing, travel ling and camping at the cabin and was an avid bridge player. Gar dening, especially her. rose occupied her spare time. A service of Remembrance was held at St. David's Anglican Church on Saturday, October 30, 1993 at 4 p.m. with Cannon Dorothy Barker officiating Mrs. Heard was born August 20, 1902 in London, England She spent her early years growing up in London and came to Cana da in 1918 settling in New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. She moved to Calgary in 1928 and married Robert Heard there in 1939. In 1953 she moved to Nanaimo living there until she moved to Vanderhoof in 1980. Mrs. Heard came to Castlegar in 1985 and has lived here since She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Angli- can Church Women in Calgary and Nanaimo. Mrs. Heard enjoyed playing cards and putting jigsaw puzzles together. She is sufvived by her daugh- ter, Wende (Ken) Arnett of Castlegar; six grandchildren and andchildren. She was born and raised in the Columbia Valley (Harrogate), In her early days she taught school in that vicinity Arriving in Crescent Valley in 1925, she m and married R.J Cunningham. Together they worked to raise theit family while at the ne time operating the Maple Leaf Store and a farm The farm consisted of milk cows and crops such as com, potatoes and turnips. During the worst days of the Depression this activ ity provided the cash to keep the store alive as most community transactions were on a barter sys- tem. Ida was widowed in July, 1942. She stayed on to run the store and Post Office but sold off the cattle and rented out the farm. On at least two occasions she was called upon to do the duties of midwife. Active in both hér church and her community she always treasured her many friends and the wealth of experi- ence these years provided. Ida retired in 1961 and a few years later, she moved to Kelowna where she pursued her unningham interests in painting, golfing and travel In 1991 Ida became a resident of Mountain View Lodge in Castle gar The family would like to thank the staff of Mountain View Lodge for the interest and attention Ida received while in their care Ida was predeceased by her children Gilbert of New West minster and Barbara of Thrums She is surviveed by her sister Jean; brother Howard; and sister in-law Jane Alton of Kelowna; her daughter Belle (Les) Laith waite of Nelson; her son Bob of Crescent Valley; and son-in-law John Moran of Castlegar; many grandchildren and great grand children In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Crescent Val ley Community Hall Society, Box 42, Crescent Valley, B.C VOG 1HO.
