PALMER: The Cossack Rugby team began its season with an enjoy-.. able trip to Missoula, Mont. where members participated in an 18-team tournament, spon- sored by the Missoula All- Maggot Rugby Team and Olym- pia Brewing Company. Also featured were three women's rugby teams, one of which exhibited excellent rug- by fundamentals. Considering the numbers of rookies that played for the Cossacks, I felt that our expec- tations, rather like the B.C. provincial Liberal party, were small, and asa result, re- warding. After our first baptismal! game against the Great Falls Crabs, losing 40 to 0, we returned to the field, bloodied but unbowed, to play the University of Montana. The dam appeared to burst in the first‘half, as they took a 36 to 0 lead, however, in the second half, it was a different story, as + both teams: scored six points ““'with ‘Tim Stoochnoff getting a well-deserved try and Colin Hetman converting it. Rookie Dave McKinnon revealed great running skills and three times was pulled down on the opposition's two- yard line. The final game against Missoula All-Maggots was a repeat of the second game, where they dominated us in the first half scoring 20 points, while in the second half each team scored six each, the final score being 26 to6 in Missoula’s favor. -This Sunday finds Trail hosting us at Warfield Park. - We are still interested in increasing our membership in men’s rugby and also would like to start women's field hockey and rugby.
