The loss eliminated them from the area play-offs and any post season play. “It was the most important game of the year. If we had won we would have moved into the play-offs,” said Junior boys Coach Doug Hickey. Grant Mosby and David Pereverzoff led the road through the close game with 16 and 14 points respectively, After one quarter SHSS was behind 16-12. Being outscored during the second quarter left the Rockers looking at a. 30-23 deficit. 4 “We got soft in the second quarter...we were weak on the rebounding,” Hickey said, The half-time talk must“have made the boys come to a realiza- tion that their season was in jeop- ardy of coming to an end. The Rockers outscored the Wolves 18-8 in the third quarter to tum the score around and take over the lead, bringing the’ garhe to a 41-38 advantage for the Rockers. Extending their lead. to 47-42 early in the fourth quarter the Rockers could only watch as the Wolves scored six straight points from the free throw line to take over the lead. When the dust set- tled and the final buzzer sounded, the Wolves had taken the. game 55-53 and with it, the rights to move into the play-offs. “Tt was a good game overall,” Hickey said. The close ending was an excit- ing way to end the game, Hickey said. But, an unfortunate way to end an excellent season. The loss brought to an end what had been a successful sea- son withthe Rockers only losing six games. Each player improved by leaps and bounds during the season. “We will have a strong team for next year, all the players made excellent improvements,” Hickey said. While some of the players won't be playing at the junior level next year, Hickey says the reason for the junior program i§ to start the development of thé players so they will make fora stronger senior team once they move up to the next level POKER FT pm Sun., Tues.; Thurs., Fri. 365-3752 Bill Van Yzerloo keeps his eye on the rock he just threw to make sure he had the right line on his shot.
