“4906... And All That”

Community groups In Trail and Kimberley are spon-
soring a special vaudeville-style variety show In honor of
Cominco'’s 75th anniversary.

‘he ‘1906... And All That!" show played in Kim:
berlay last weekend and will be performed Friday 8 p.m.
and Saturday at 7 p.m. at tho Trall Junior High auditorium.
One half of the show Is being put together In Trail and the
other half In Kimberley. The sponsor of the Trall segment
and the Trail performances Is the Trail and District
Community Arts Councll. The €

Eleanor Honey and Sue Whitehead, and “If You Go In”
from “tolanthe” done by Frank Finney, Mike Bourchler,
George Bourchler and Jim Waldle.

The historical characters are: Jim DoLong as Fritz
Heinze, the daring entrepreneur who built the first smelter
at Trall; Wally Bertola as Sir William Van Horne, a major
figure In the Canadian Pacific Railway; Jim Waldie as
Arthur Dwight, and adviser to Van Horne; Sam McBride as
Walter H. Aldridge, who negotiated for the purchase of

Theatre and the Kimberley Arts Centre 64 are co-
sponsoring the Kimberley segment and sponsored the
Kimberley performances.

The Trall half features a rousing “Cominco... 751"
song written by local composer George Ryan especially for
this event. Ryan Is also the music director and plano ac-
companiest. The writer and director of the historical
sketches Is Jack Fisher. Sue Whitehead Is producer and
Bette DeVito is stage manager. The set backdrops have
been painted by Ken Welr, Janet Crema, Mary Elllot and
Pat Freschi of the Trall Art Club.

In addition to the Cominco . . . 75!" song, the Trail
show Includes a medley of popular George M. Cohan
songs, “A Real Slow Drag" from Scott Joplin’s
“Treemonisha", “Gypsy Love Song”, “Falling In Love with
Someone", and ‘The Merry Widow Waltz” and “Villa” from
“The Merry Widow", and a medley of the hit songs of 1908.

The singers Include: Bette DeVito, Sue Whitehead,
Kathy Moorhead, Wally Bertola, Jim Waldle, Frank Finney,
Marlene Rusnell, Eleanor Honey, Marika Swinkels, Phyllis
Scala, Jim DeLong, Mike Bourchler, George Bourchier,
Babs Bourchler, John McGregor and Sam McBride.

Also on the program are “Three Little Malds" from
Gilbert and Sullivan's “Mikado” done by Babs Bourchler,

Sandy Roberts, Peggy Bonell, Don Duff and Don Davies.

Mrs. Gert Pederson will fill the dual role of choral director

‘and accompanist while the show has been written and

directed by Steve Waterhouse and Liz Graham. The cast,

Including stage crew, Is in the neighborhood of 20-25

Ticket prices are $3 for adults and $2 for students and |

seniors. Tickets are being sold at L&J Books In Trall.

The sponsors will donate proceeds from the show
toward the Esplanade Centre project in Trall and cultural
projects In Kimberley.
