divorce at some time, a new
Census Bureau study indi
cates.

That would be a record
high percentage, said the
study of marriage and div.
oree patterns by Arthur
Norton and Jeanne Moor.

Almost one-third of women
aged 35 to 39 already have
been divorced, and the study
projects that “by the time
they and women five years
younger complete their div-
orce experience, nearly six in
10 (of those who marry) will
have been divorced.

Theme
park for
province?

VANCOUVER (CP) — The
provincial government is try
ing to interest private inves-
tors in development of a
multi-million-dollar amuse-
ment theme park in the Van
couver area.

The closest theme park in
North America is Disneyland
im California, and Wonder-
land in Toronto.

Bob Flitton, deputy min-
ister of lands, parks and
housing, said British Colum-
bia is a “fresh, untapped
market for a major theme
park.”

He said the idea of a theme
park, which would need sub-
stantial private investment,
originated during di i

assets after the fair ends in
October and the site is re-
claimed by the B.C. Place

“The idea of a theme park
seemed to fit a lot of things
and it would be a good use of
the legacy buildings at Expo

million, contains some “opti-
mistic” conclusions.

Flitton said the govern-
ment commissioned a feas
ibility study from a Vancou-
ver company called the IBI
Group, which consulted “in-
ternational experts” in theme
parks.

He said the report has
gone to the Tourism Ministry
because “they have a list of
people who have expressed
interest in B.C. investment.”
