The artists’ designs which grace the Baton have been passed down for genera- tions, symbolizing and protect- ing their families and cultures. The Artists Charles Elliott is a member of the Tsartlip (Sart-lip) Band of the Coast Salish Nation. The Saanich tribes and their relatives throughout the Coast Salish region are hosts to the Games as they take place on traditional Salish territory.
