The building, along with the former Vogue Studios location, was destroyed by fire

Minto tea and bazaar a success

Minto Chapter No.79 Order of
the Easter Star held a successful
tea and bazaar in the Legion Hall
on Nov. 26 with Ruby Partridge
as general convener.

Carol Couch, Worthy Matron,
greeted the guests and declared
the bazaar open at 1:30 p.m.

The serving table was cov-
ered by a white linen tablecloth
and decorated with holly in little
red mailboxes.

Dear Ann Landers: When my
husband died eight years ago, he
left me a house, a car, a modest
savings account and a small
income. I couldn't keep up the
expenses for the house, so I deed-
ed it to my daughter, “Jan,” and
her husband, “Arnie.” The deed
included the stipulation that I
was to live in the house with
them as long as I needed to.

Everything has been fine until

family has steadfastly believed
that Nate was innocent, but he
was sentenced to serve five to 10
years in prison.

Now Nate has almost finished
serving the minimum sentence
and will be released if he has a

uncle will give him a job. His
family wants Jan and Arnie to
give him a place to live.

I know that Jan isn't crazy
about having Nate live here.
He's a big man, over 6 feet tall
and 180 pounds — and he has
been lifting weights in prison
The family is putting pressure
on Jan to take him in, and they
have even offered to pay his
room and board.

Ann, there is no way I can live
in the same house with a convict-
ed rapist. I'd be terrified every
time I was left alone with him.
Jan and Arnie like to take long
vacations and short weekend
trips. My lawyer says I can't stop
them from taking Nate in as long
as they don't try to put me out

What am I going to do? —
