William was employed for many years by West Koot- enay Power and Light Co. until his retirement. Santa pleases craft sale crowd Santa Claus was in jolly ‘good spirits at Slocan Park Hall Nov. 23 for the Christ- mas craft and bake sale sponsored by Regional Rec- reation Commission No. 8: He told stories, sang songs and generally fascinated 80 children. The man, dressed in rosy red with white fluffy fur trim and big black boots, asked the children to listen to their parents and to do something special for them. He also reminded the kids to be kind to those less for- tunate. Grown-ups were also enthralled by his spontan- eous manner and good hu- mor. The Christmas craft and bake sale was well supported by the community, with 300 people in attendance. A wide selection of crafts and deli- cious baked goods highlight- ed the talent of the various individuals and organizations in the Slocan’ Valley. Donations were taken at the door for the needy to help brighten their Christmas. AND MRS. STUART TAYLOR .... September wedding Couple wed in Victoria Charlene Marie MclInroy and Stuart Paxton Taylor, both of Victoria, were’ mar: ried Sept. 14 at Queenswood Chapel in Victoria. The bride is the daughter of Mr.-and Mrs. Dempsey MclInroy of Castlegar and the groom's parents are Dr. and Mrs. William, Taylor of Ed- monton. The altar at Queenswood Chapel was graced with bas- kets of mixed flowers as Mr. Dempsey gave his daughter in marriage. The bride wore a floor- length ivory-colored gown of peau de soi with a bodice and neckline of heirloom lace and clusters of seed pearls. She wore a hat of ivory satin trimmed with seed pearls to match-the gown. For a bouquet, she carried a cascade of white gardenias, alstromerias and ivy. She wore gold and dia- mond earrings belonging to her maternal grandmother as jewelry. Father Leo Roberts offi- ciated at the ceremony. Darlene Roche of Victoria was-maid of-honor-at the wedding. She wore: a floor- length gown in dusty rose voile with a matching hat and carried a bouquet of minia- ture orchids and gardenias. Randy. Coombs of Edmon- ton was best man with Douglas Taylor of Edmonton, brother of the groom, and Michael Demeo of Castlegar, a cousin of the bride, acting as ushers. Following the wedding, a reception was held at Vic- toria’s Royal Oak Inn where baskets of white and pink gardenias decorated the room. The three-tiered wedding cake was decorated with pink and white roses. Paul Crouch of Victoria was master of ceremonies at the reception.
