Before she left for a trip east, entertainment chair- man LaDell Lipsett had ar- ranged for Debbie Thomp- kins to bring her Scottish dance class to perform. About 10 children ranging in age from four to 14 gave an hour of delightful dances — chiefly Scottish — though they did perform the classic “Irish Washerwoman.” The youngsters were col- orful in their. kilts and tar- tans, and amused all with their grace and skill. As it happened, there was also a guest from Scotland among the diners, Mrs. Jean Clark- son from Kilmarnoch near Glasgow. She was pleased with the touch of Scotland so far from its place of origin. The following evening (Fri- day) 16 Castlegar members travelled to Nelson to join in a whist tournament with that SCA Branch. Gunnar Selvig, § Molly White, and Bob Cor- mier all took car loads, and a pleasant social hour was en- joyed with the Nelson group. Happily, a number of Castle- garites came home with a good share of the prize money. There will be no more regular meetings for the Castlegar branch until Sep- tember, but the centre will be open on Mondays and Fri- days for cards, and on Thurs- days for bingo.
