SCHOOL BASED PREVENTION WORKER

Applications are invited by Castlegar & District Community Services Society

from qualified individuals for a School Based Prevention Worker to implement

substance abuse prevention programs in Stanley Humphries Secondary

School, Castlegar, B.C. and in J. Lloyd Crowe Secondary School, Trail, B.C.

Supervision of this position is provided by Castlegar Community Services

with direction from school administrative officers, teachers and counsellors.

Duties include:

+ design, develop and implement prevention activities;

+ provide information about substance use/abuse and available
community services;

+ provide brief interventions with individual students and arrange for
appropriate referrals;

° provide education and support for school staff and parents in the
implementation of prevention initiatives; and

* consult with staff/parents on individual student related issues

Applicants should have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in psychology,
social work, or education and experience in: the field of addictions, working
with adolescents, design/implementation of education/prevention programs.
Must have own transportation.
