Silverton man

passes away

Roland Aubrey Peachey of
Silverton died at Kootenay
Lake District Hospital June
18, 1987 after a lengthy
illness, at the age of 73.

Mr. Peachey was a true
Silvertonian, having been
born in Silverton in 1914. He
was an ardent member of the
Knights of Pythias Lodge for
52 years and received his
60-year jewel in 1985. He was
a member of the Royal
Canadian Legion Branch No.
101, New Denver. Rolly was
& great sportsman in his
younger years, and he loved
his fishing days. He worked
in the mines for some years,
and served in the Navy
during the Second World
War.

Mr. Peachey was a plum-
ber by trade, and generously
helped many neighbors and
friends with their plumbing
problems.

He is survived by his sister
Viva (Babe) Urgan of Kim-
berley; two step-sisters, Mrs.
Lena Beggs of Surrey, and
Mrs. Victoria Percival of
Nelson; many nieces and

Mr. Peachey was pre-
deceased by his sisters Dor-
een Harmston of Castlegar
and Gladys Erickson of Mer-
ritt; and brother Fred of
Haney.

His wishes were that there
would be no service, and that
his ashes be interred in the
old New Denver cemetery.

The family req no
flowers. Donations may be
made to the Slocan Com-
munity Hospital and Health
Care Centre, earmarked for
the new vehicle fund, at New
Denver.
