Slocan Valley Library Receives $800 Grant The first annual all- membership meeting of the Slocan Valley Community Libr- ary Society was held on May 17 in Slocan City. Due to insufficient attend- ance, however, the election was postponed. A second meeting was held at the Slocan Valley Community Library. The Slocan Valley Com-. munity Library recently re- ceived an $800 grant from the Leon and Thea Koerner Found- ation. This foundation was established in 1955 to foster higher education, cultura! acti- vities and generally the public welfare in British Columbia. In recent years they have helped both the Kaslo and Salmo public libraries. The funds are to be used in expanding’ the present book collection (which numbers more than 2,600 volumes).
