Funeral service will be held at the Castlegar Funeral Chapel beginning Sunday, Sept. 20, 1992 at 7 p.m. gnd will continue Monday, Sept. 21, 1992 at 10 a.m. wii burial at noon at Park Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Conkin was born June 19, 1927 at Brandon, Man. He came to Castlegar with his parents in 1929. Prior to his marriage to Pauline Tarasoff on Oct. 8, 1949, he lived at Syringa Creek and.South Slocan. After his mar- riage, he lived in various communities in both B.C. and Alberta as his trade was a carpenter and he followed construction. He finally settled in Thrums in 1960. Mr. Conkin was a member of the Carpenters and Joiners Local No. 2300, the IOFF, and enjoyed tinkering in his shop building things and hunting and fishing with his sons. He is survived by his wife, Pauline of Thrums; two sons, Donald of Calgary and Michael of Thrums; one daughter Shirley Giles of Castlegar; seven grandchil- dren; one brother, Bill Conkin of Vancouver and one sis- ter, Ann Relkoff of Shoreacres. He was predeceased by his parents, William and Anne Conkin and one brother, John. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Castlegar Funeral Chapel.
