In the old arena it takes three weeks to melt, It'is not unreasonable to assume then that every time a new event is scheduled in the new building wo lose a week's income from the building, and it wouldn't take too many times in five years for the heating'system to pay for itself. ity Centre Building Deletion ‘Tho insulation under: the slab is to keep the permafrost from going down in the ground, ‘This reminds me of bullding a home—with today's energy costs—without any insulation, or trying to heat your house in the winter with the back door open, All this to save money on the original installation?. . ‘According to the report in’ last week's Castlegar News “The district is authorized to borrow an additional $400,000" but that probably won't be necessary. To have availability of the money to build every- thing In'a new complex under the original concept and then’ delete these things afterward Is certainly a step in the wrong direction, when we will only ever build one community centre. Any. deletions that are under the foundations are ex- tremely expensive to do any- thing about in the future, This Is certainly ‘not what I voted for. In defence of the building ‘committee;. their ‘advice from the architect was based solely upon the material on the site belng able to stand the perma frost in the ground. This doesn't even consider the build- ing operation, just the construc: tion, which is their purpose. In conclusion, I would like to say now that the bullding committee is aware of these facts, will they rectlfy the situation for the betterment of the Community Centre?
