Registration began at 8:30 a.m. with coffee and muffins being served by the Sisters of Kootenay Temple No. 37. Call to order began at 10 a.m. with PDDGC Eva Barrett of Rosevale Temple No. 38, Fruit- vale, presiding. DDGC Lil Neumann, Kootenay No. 37, was escorted to the altar by Manager Bernice ‘Bar- rass No. 37 along with eight Sisters of No. 37 forming an honor guard with each officer car- rying a red carnation for an impressive cere- mony. DDGC Neumann was introduced, wel- comed and presented with a corsage after which she took over convention presiding. Presentation of flags was made by No. 37 manager Barrass and PGC Iris Spurgeon of Idaho. The password was taken by Barrass and the Bible opened. The Kate Davis Prayer was given by SA Rose Soberlak. The address of welcome was given by GP Susan Bycroft of No. 37, with the response by PGC Doris Dimock of No. 33, Salmo. Introductions were given by Kootenay Tem- ple No. 37. Introductions of Grand Officers were GC Marlene. Powell and Supreme Junior Ethel Negllist. Each was presented with a corsage by nce Neumann. e GC then took her seat beside Neu- mann. Delegates reports were given by Fran Mof- fat of No. 37, Elizabeth Hanley of No: 3, Mar- garet Roberts of No. 38 and Marie Hearn of No. 33. Winners in the memory work competition were Charlotte Beatty (No. 38), Julie Vishloff (No. 33) Brenda Vanderholt (No. 37) Hilda ‘| Simister (No. 4) and Doris Craig (No. 3.) Winner of the signs competition were Mar- ilynne Read (No. 38), Rose Soberlak (No. 37), Eike Vanderholt (No. 4) and Gladys Wirsch (No. 3). Draping of the charter was performed by Trail Temple No. 3. The meeting adjourned for lunch at noon. The afternoon proceedings ‘opened ‘with Trail opening in ritualistic form. The Ballot March followed with Maple Leaf performing. Ladies initiation was held with one Sister being obligated for Fruitvale No. 28 and one initiated for Kootenay No. 37. Eight Sisters from Salmo formed the de- gree staff assisted by their musician Fran Henderson No. 33. Recess for tea at 3 p.m. was served by Kootenay No. 37. Memorial Service was performed by Fruit- vale No. 38. A penny march followed with the proceeds in the amount of $74 going to multi- ple sclerosis. Approximately 74 guest sat down to an en- joyable supper at the Sandman Inn. The Shield for memory work went to Brenda Van- derholt No. 37 and the Laura Dewis Sign Competition Trophy to Marilynne Read. Kootenay Temple No. 37 won the membership trophy. The tablecloth, made and donated by Lil Neumann, was won by Eleanor Wallace No. 3. The crocheted tablecloth, made and donated by Myrtle Thomas, was won by Fran Moffat No. 37 and the hoop doll, made and donated by Laura Richards, was won by Charlotte Beatty No. 38. Guests attended from Trail, Fruitvale, Rossland, Salmo, Castlegar, Cranbrook, Kim- berley, Vernon, Penticton, Lumby, Vancouver (Terminal No. 29 and No. 15), Port Moody, New Westminster, Maple Ridge and Bonners Ferry, Idaho. - MEC Jan Neumann No. 37 presented Lil with her PDDGC's pin. She thanked all her committees for all their hard work and said it is a day she will never forget. Trail Temple No. 3 will host the 52nd Dis- trict Convention in April 1993.
