The four-day camp starts on Monday at Selkirk College. W@ Twenty-one Aquanauts and River Otters travel to Greenwood to swim and 12 bring back medals NEWS STAFF Although small in number, local swimmers were big on medal winning at the latest meet in Greenwood over the weekend. Nineteen members of the Robson River Otters headed west on Highway 3 and when the last lap had been swum, 10 of them were wearing medals. “Some of them really did well,” said Otters assistant coach Tara Paulus. “They re- ally surprised us.” Torrie Lahue and Terri Todd led the way for the Ot- ters, both picking up gold medals. ; Lahue stole the show in Di- vision 6 girls, finishing first in all five of her races while Todd picked up her gold in Division 1 girls. Janice Hawley was just as consistent as Lahue in Divi- sion 6, finishing second five times and earning a silver. Silver medals also went to Scooter Corkle, Devin Lahue and Aaron Donohue, while Seamus Donohue and Lisa Woykin picked up bronze. A meet for B swimmers, Paulus said the trip to Green- wood was satisfying for the kids who wouldn't be attend- ing the provincial champi- onships this weekend in Ab- botsford. “The kids did really well,” she said. “It was a great way to end the season for the ones who aren’t going to the Provincials,” she said. Meanwhile, across the riv- er in Castlegar, four members of the Aquanauts travelled to Greenwood and two of them returned with medals. : Shelby Miller won silver in Division 5 girls while Mandy Parks took bronze in Division 2 girls. : Although he wasn’t in at- tendance, Aquanaut coach Tom Carew said he heard good things about the small troop that made the trip. “From what I heard, the kids swam alright,” he said. Ten members of the Otters will make the trip to Abbots- ford, as will 26 of the Aqua- nauts. 1987 TOYOTA TERCEL two door 1984 TOYOTA COROLLA two door 1981 TOYOTA TERCEL four door 1980 TOYOTA TERCEL four door Western Auto Wreckers Granite Road, Nelson Ph. 354-4802 After you've landed ‘the big one, join us.
