The riext step was a job—quite a step, since she was only the second woman to ob- tain a ticket in B.C. since the war.. She joined the Iron- workers Union and was the only woman in the union in Western Canada, if not the entire country. After working for a while, she upgraded her ticket in 1975 and presently is completing a second upgrade. When she is finished Mrs. Boilard will hold grade 3, 2, and 1 pressure tickets. Sincé she became a welder, Irene Boilard has worked on a number of jobs at Pincher Creek, Medicine Hat, Wabeman and Sundance.
